Legal Mentors assist Lawyers to take advantage of the increasingly competitive market for Legal Services. Whether it is because of impending de-regulation or just a desire to go for growth, Legal Firms are moving rapidly towards a more commercial approach to managing their practice. Legal Firms rely on the team at Legal Mentors to guide them through the process of creating a new Vision for their practice; linking goals and activities to that Vision, to gain the buy-in of all staff and finally, to ensure that the intended progress is made.
Practice Plan Launch Event
Once the Practice has its Premium Practice Plan, in order to ensure maximum effectiveness and achievement, the partners need to communicate their new plan to their staff.
Objectives
- To share the partners’ vision and to gain the support of the whole firm
- To increase the staff feeling of involvement in the practice
- To gain individual staff and team commitment and motivation
The form of the launch varies from practice to practice but will usually involve several of the partners presenting their new plan. Legal Mentors will facilitate to highlight the agreed strategy and to lead a session where feedback is required from staff seeking their own suggestions for business improvement. This involvement has proved to be helpful in gaining the support of all staff for the partners’ desire for a planned future for the practice.
Planning
The session requires careful planning beforehand concerning:
- The logistics of where the meeting will be held, catering arrangements, timing, equipment, cover for staff whilst away from desks, seating etc
- The agenda
Agenda
This obviously varies to match your circumstances, but may include:
- Changes in the marketplace leading to the need for a clear focus and direction for the business
- Announcements of new appointments, reorganisations
- New initiatives for products, services, marketing etc.
- Business development, including how the staff can get involved in promoting the practice, use of their own business cards, how to network etc.
- Announcement of new incentive / reward schemes
- Feedback and ideas are invited from staff on actions they can suggest which will assist the firm in attaining its goals and improving performance
- Announcement of any new initiatives in staff communications / regular feedback meetings to keep staff informed and motivated
Who should attend?
The launch requires all partners and every member of staff to be present.
Duration and Location
The planning session with partners will take half a day, and the launch itself takes between a half-day and a full day depending on the partners’ requirements.
It should ideally take place off-site in a location suitable for a presentation.
Outcome
All staff will feel they are part of the team. They will have an increased level of motivation, the ability to see where the practice is aiming for the future and understand their part in making it happen.
Fee
Planning meeting: £500 plus VAT plus reasonable travel expenses
Launch: £1,000 plus VAT plus reasonable travel expenses
